ALL ABOUT MSME & UDYOG AADHAR

What is Udyog Aadhar?

Udyog aadhar is simply a government registration of businesses which qualifies the criteria of micro, small & medium enterprises.The main motive behind the introduction of udyog aadhar is to provide maximum benefits to these enterprises.It is a unique 12 digits government registration number provided by the Ministry of micro, small & medium enterprises (MSME) to register themselves as MSME.

Who qualifies as MSME?

The Government of India has enacted the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006 in terms of which the definition of micro, small and medium enterprises is as under:

  • Enterprises engaged in the manufacture or production, processing or preservation of goods as specified below:
    • A micro enterprise is an enterprise where investment in plant and machinery does not exceed ₹25 lakh;
    • A small enterprise is an enterprise where the investment in plant and machinery is more than ₹25 lakh but does not exceed Rs. 5 crore;
    • A medium enterprise is an enterprise where the investment in plant and machinery is more than ₹5 crore but does not exceed Rs.10 crore.
      In case of the above enterprises, investment in plant and machinery is the original cost excluding land and building and the items specified by the Ministry of Small Scale Industries vide
      its notification S.O.1722(E) dated October 5, 2006 .
  • Enterprises engaged in providing or rendering of services and whose investment in equipment (original cost excluding land and building and furniture, fittings and other items not directly related to the service rendered or as may be notified under the MSMED Act, 2006 are specified below.
    • A micro enterprise is an enterprise where the investment in equipment does not exceed ₹10 lakh;
    • A small enterprise is an enterprise where the investment in equipment is more than ₹10 lakh but does not exceed ₹2 crore;
    • A medium enterprise is an enterprise where the investment in equipment is more than ₹2 crore but does not exceed ₹5 crore.

Who are the persons eligible to obtain udyog aadhar?

Almost every person is eligible for obtaining udyog aadhar registration, be it a sole proprietorship, partnership firm, limited liability partnership, public/private limited company, one person company, cooperative society or any association of persons.

How can one apply for udyog aadhar?

The udyog aadhar registration process is quite simple. A person is  just need to fill up the registration form by visiting udyogaadhaar.gov.in (the official website for obtaining registration), and fill in all the required information therein. Also, once you visit the website stated above, you will get a detailed guidelines regarding all the details to be filled up in the form.

What are the informations required for applying?

Following information should be kept handy before you begin with the registration process:-

  • Aadhar Number
  • Name of the owner
  • Name of the enterprise
  • Type of organisation
  • PAN
  • Location of the plant
  • Official address
  • Date of commencement
  • Previous registration details (if any)
  • Bank details
  • Major activity
  • National Industry Classification (NIC) code
  • Number of people employed
  • Amount of investment in plant & machinery/ equipment

These are the information which are required to complete the application form. But before that, you will first need to enter the aadhar number of the entrepreneur and the name mentioned in the aadhar in order to validate the aadhar through OPT. After that you just need to fill the information required and submit it.
